Investment Powder > Pro-HT
Pro-HT Platinum
For mixing and burnout instructions see Technical Information. For casting Platinum, Platinum Alloys and Palladium jewellery and other applications. Maximum recommended alloy temperature for use with Pro-HT Platinum is 2100°C / 3800°F. Due to the extreme melting point of these alloys Pro-HT Platinum has a higher refractory content than Pro-HT Steel and also uses a stronger phosphate binder system to with stand the higher alloy temperatures. Pro-HT Platinum is invested using the traditional rubber base and steel flask system and can be burnt out using the Pro-HT burnout cycle 90 minutes after investing. Pro-HT Platinum may be used to burn out waxes and SLA models, however please note that the surface finish achieved when casting SLA models may be inferior to castings made from standard waxes. Pro-HT Platinum is vacuum packed in 10KG Aluminium Foil Laminate bags with an easy zip lock to reseal the bag once opened. This type of packaging has never been available to the investment casting industry before and is exceptionally important as phosphate bonded products are extremely sensitive to atmospheric moisture and exposure will instantly degrade the products performance.
Pro-HT Steel
For mixing and burnout instructions see Technical Information. For applications such as stainless steel jewellery, watch parts, body piercings, model parts and rapid prototyping. Maximum recommended alloy temperature for use with Pro-HT Steel is 1700°C / 3090°F.
Due to the ever increasing price of precious metal stainless steel jewellery is becoming more popular and global production is rapidly increasing. Pro-HT Steel is designed to produce castings with exceptional dimensional accuracy and detail reproduction with high level of surface finish. Pro-HT Steel is invested using the traditional rubber base and steel flask system and can be burnt out using the Pro-HT burnout cycle 90 minutes after investing. Pro-HT Steel may be used to burn out waxes and SLA models, however please note that the surface finish achieved when casting SLA models may be inferior to castings made from standard waxes. Technical Information
Phosphate-bonded investment powders set in an exothermic reaction. This means that heat is generated during the chemical reaction taking place when the material sets. In order to achieve optimum results it is very important that slurry temperature is kept as low as possible and must be below 21°C / 70°F;. In-line water refrigeration systems are readily available and relatively inexpensive. Water temperatures as low as 3°C / 37°F can be used; at this temperature extended work times and a thinner slurry will be experienced. If the slurry is hotter than 21°C / 70°F it will act as a catalyst to the reaction, speeding up the setting time and thus making the investment thicker. This may lead to casting faults such as rough surfaces or cracking. Pro-HT is available in two product types, Pro-HT Platinum and Pro-HT Steel, each specifically designed to achieve optimum results in relation to the alloy being cast. Note: These two products require different water to powder ratios - Please refer to product label on the front of the bag for the water ratio for your product.

Do not disturb for 90 minutes after investing.
After 90 minutes the flasks may be stripped and either burnt out using the below burnout cycle. If you wish to steam de-wax the flasks before burning out do not steam for longer than 60 minutes.
